Man

The wind whips
The sand into your face
If only the beauty
Of the beach
Could last all year
It's almost enough
To make you forget
Corporal punishment of children
Grown men lacking
A proper moral compass
Could steer us
To a North facing selfie

A lunch meeting
A lunch special
Must be lunch time
The illusion is doubly so
On your day off
Or a missed opportunity
Your family is here
Even when you feel
As though you have none

The sun warms
The porch window
The sun feeds flowers
As well as humans
We've been watered
On many a rainy day
Been cold and dark and alone
Only to push forth from earth
When the spring comes
And it always does
A colloquialism
We are all a part
Of the land we came from
In our case
The sand we came from
Our roots barefoot in the soil
Or the crystal rocks
That grow beneath our feet
Made of minerals and molecules
Or decaying plants and animals

When we love
We grow together
We are a garden
An ecosystem
In the bottle
Of Earth's shallow atmosphere
Everything is natural
Computers are made of metal
Computers are made of oil
Dinosaurs are made of oil
Computers are dinosaurs?
No, that can't be right.

Our hair blooms
Like flower petals
From our scalp
The sun oxidizes
The minerals stored
On our skin
Showing our inner
Lizard person
Just put a little
Coconut oil on it
Humans love coconut
And bananas so much
We must be monkeys

Some of us much more
Resemble rats
Sliding through life
With oily little hairs
Eating dumpster food
Giant water rats
Infesting local habits
Paintings unclaimed
Parties unplanned
Weddings not in budget
Missing once in a lifetime
Opportunities
For a boring life of meaning

Fame
Will never satisfy
The craving
For connection
For humanity
Stagnant hoarded money
Is a waste of life

Earth is finite resources
The constantly changing
Numeric representation
Of what life is worth
When you become a brand
You die as a person
Being immortal is a curse
Not a blessing
Your value is there
Are a million others
Just like you
A search for truth

I crave silence
When I finally get it
It feels like violence
A mind full of logos
Never willing to let go
You can't labotomize me
My trauma guides me
To those without a voice
To those without choice
To support those who save
To help women be brave

The flowers on the tree
Are there to deceive you
It is the light
That will free you
From the cage
We built
To convince ourselves
We are free
We can see, the world
We can feel, the breeze
We can hear, nature
But we can not
Spread our wings

You have the right to privacy
Free from piracy
A right to be
In your own reality
Free from war
No one keeping score
The right to value
Your own life
Above the greater good
There is no greater good
Than to learn to love
Instead of hate
To nurture and cultivate
Instead of destroy and rape
A world free of roving gangs
A world free of violent men
Where men & women
Rule hand in hand
Over sea & land
The soil & the sand
Where we try, as hard as we can
Where a man can be your friend
Where we show respect
For every living thing
For animals and plants
And all the joy they bring

We will cultivate the garden
With nitrogen from the dead
We will build our speed trains
With former weapons of lead
We will cut down
The winds from warming
With massive fields of windmills
We will build our
Shaded parking garages
With solar panels

Without fields
Of unused planes
Of useless tanks
We could build every
Bridge we need
Every school we need
Every windmill
And every speed train
We will ever need

War criminals
Run the world
There is nothing right
While men profit off
The death of civilians
Men profit
Off the death of children
Men profit
Off the death and suffering
Of the sick and the poor

Profit means
That the means of production
Have been stolen
From the working class
And delivered to men
Who have never seen
A day of work in their life
Who play vast games
Gambling with people's
Livelihood
Gambling with people's
Lives
Doesn't matter who lives
Or dies
As long as it returns
A profit for the investor

Euphamisms for the Lords
Who we did not elect
To rule our kingdom
Self appointed
Saints of reason
Who can reason away
Beating their wives
Beating their children
Military occupations
Of modern civilization
Women bound and gagged
Crying and heaving
Just short of a body bag
Turns working class men on
To the ability
To ignore the suffering
Of their community
The ability to enjoy
Someone's pain at their hand
We're eroding the shore
Stacking rocks on the sand
Carelessly inconsiderate
Of the butterflies
Who can't help but change
Who live a short beautiful life
Just to be mounted

Butterflies are being murdered
For leaving the caccoon
Before it's safe
While the whole world
Is an unsafe place
From the stalking
Of creepy controlling men
In Spring
Or in the Fall
In the Summer
We get no season off
There's no reason
No logic
No algorithm
To justify
The abuse and control
Women & children are put through
You're documented
From the moment you are born
You are nothing
But a form
A name on a page
Stripping away the power
Of each magical sage
Each baby immediately
Placed in a gender cage
Expectations grip your face
Designed to keep us all
In our place
Wings cut off
By our greatest confidant
Man

-Jacqueline Jeanette Lane

I decided to write a stream of consciousness poem inspired by the styles of two female poets I know. Sorry it's so much to take in at once. When it was written it didn't have breaks. I tried to put them in but it ruined the flow for me. So this is how it stands. Enjoy. I love you.
